Father Michal Judge, one of the victims of the attacks of September 11th, witnessed true Christian virtue as he sacrificed his own life while ministering to others The following is a post that I put up last year after completing a walk of tribute to all of the victims, but especially to Father Judge:
Last Sunday I had the privilege of participating in the annual walk of remembrance in memory of Father Mychal Judge. Father Judge was the first fatality of 9/11; killed while he ministered to the injured and dead on that fateful day.
The walk begins at St. Francis of Assisi church on 31st St with the recitation of the Rosary and Mass, then proceeds down to Ground Zero with stops at firehouses and police precincts along the way. At each stop, Scripture is proclaimed and prayers are offered. The firefighters and police officers stand at attention while the names of those who were lost from each house are read aloud. Looking at the young faces of those first responders brings back the vivid images of those who went racing into the burning towers on that awful day.
Here is a video montage from last year's walk. May God bless and keep them all.
