Said Musa Released from Prison

Said Musa, the Afghani man who was imprisoned for converting to Christianity, was released from prison this week according to news sources.  Crosswalk.com reports that Musa was reunited with his wife and six children in a foreign country after numerous groups, including the U.S. State Department,  advocated for his release.

Musa was arrested back in 2010 when footage of a Christian worship service and baptism of converts was broadcast in Afghanistan.  It is hard for Americans to comprehend that the simple act of becoming a Christian can result in arrest in some parts of the world.  In our society, being a Christian is fairly ordinary.  The most we have to deal with lately is disdain.  However, that can change fairly quickly.  The fact that Mr. Musa and his fellow Afghans even decided to convert in their hostile surroundings was an incredible act of courage.

After his arrest, Musa was able to smuggle letters out of prison detailing his mistreatment.  This assisted in gaining notoriety for his case.  Other prisoners have not been so fortunate.   Shoaid Abadullah is a 23 year old Christian convert who is still in prison and facing the death penalty in Afghanistan.  According to Crosswalk.com he has been silenced and his case is not so well known.  Please keep him and the other Christians around the world who are being persecuted for the Faith in your prayers.  There are many of them.
